Mission (Long Version)

Prairie Valley Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God by making disciples through the in-depth teaching of God’s Word, the intentional mentoring of new believers, the equipping and support of the family, the active “living out” of a Christlike life, the aggressive showing of God’s love, and the passionate sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our community, nation, and world.

II. Vision

PrairieValleyBaptistChurch exists to make disciples through:

Mentoring new believers, … since the commission left us by our Lord is to “make disciples” we will focus on making sure that all of those who come to know Christ through the people or ministries of PVBC are given a firm foundation of spiritual understanding to grow to maturity.

As a result of this focus every person who is saved through the members and ministries of PVBC, and are willing to commit to the process, will receive at least a year of discipleship grounding and training.

In addition, those choosing to join our fellowship will be required to be a part of our newcomers class so that they understand our core values, mission, vision, doctrine and disciplemaking focus.

Equipping the family, …since God established the family (a relationship of one man and one woman who become one flesh through a lifetime commitment before God) as the building block of a society, we will focus on teaching that supports, encourages and equips the family unit.

As a result, we will see marriages improving, families made stronger and more commitment on the part of the father and mother to their biblical roles. We will hear of and see men providing the strong spiritual leadership that their families need and wives who lovingly submit to that leadership and compliment their husband by loving him and caring for the home. We will see in this one-flesh, complementary relationship parents who are rearing their sons and daughters in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. They will spend more time equipping their children to walk with God in all of life. We will also see men and women who are outstanding leaders on their jobs and in their communities. Finally, we will see men and women who love God and passionately seek to lead others to a relationship with their Lord.

Living a Christlike life, … since God’s goal for believers in Christ is to be “conformed to the image of his son”, PVBC will teach, as well as, reprove, rebuke and exhort toward the forming and living out of Christlike character in our members.

As a result, our members character should reflect biblical values, be based on the life of Christ, lived out daily, and be apparent in all relationships and in all situations. They should be reflecting compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, love, joy, steadfastness, purity in speech, contentment, respectfulness, truthfulness, obedience, faithfulness, submission to authority, gratefulness, self control, and strong work ethic, working as unto the Lord.

Teaching God’s Word, …since we have the privilege to read the actual words of God recorded in the Bible and we are made holy by learning and living out this truth, PVBC will passionately teach God’s Word in-depth being careful to present the “full counsel of God”.

As a result, we will see our members “filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to God’s glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to God.

The aggressive showing of God’s love…since Christ stated that the world would know we are His disciples because of our love one for another, PVBC will encourage love to dominate our relationship one with another and as a result our treatment of one another. As well, the Word of God calls us to express our concern and love for unbelievers by living out Christlike love before them and sharing the gospel with them.

As a result, we should see more bearing of one another burdens, more acceptance of one another, more patience one with another, more mutual encouragement, more confessing of sins one to another, more kindness and compassion one to another, more thinking of others before ourselves, more spurring each other on to good deeds, and as a result, more unity.

Showing God’s love by sharing the gospel in our community, nation, and world…since we are charged with going into all the world to preach the gospel and this is the first step in making disciples, PVBC will heavily promote, train and encourage the sharing of the gospel as a habitual lifestyle.

As a result, we will see our members develop a lifestyle of evangelism as they freely, and boldly share their testimonies and the gospel of grace with friends, neighbors, etc. as well as through events and programs such as our GROW ministry.
