Prairie Valley Baptist Church

Our Story

How it all started...

Prairie Valley Baptist Church has been a family focused church since it's inception in  1872  in the Prairie Valley community along the beautiful Brazos River. It used to educate children through church and school as both met in the same building. That historic building still stands on our grounds as a museum and monument to our history.  We still believe that every Christian child should grow up understanding that the Word of God is our only foundation for faith and truth and that all knowledge should be evaluated by that sure foundation.

Prairie Valley Baptist Church still stands on the sure foundation  and belief of the Bible being the Word of God without error and is  our source and authority for the gospel and doctrine.

Expanding the vision...

There is a crisis of manhood in the American Church and our nation.  Returning to Biblical Manhood as defined by the Word of God is the the solution to that crisis. PVBC is committed to  helping men understand the difference in what our culture calls "real men," and what the Bible calls holy, blameless men. We seek through the teaching  and living out of the Word of God  and mentorship to  equip and encourage Christian men to be men who reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead their families courageously, and live for an eternal reward from their Lord.

Where we are headed...

Prairie Valley Baptist Church is committed to making disciples. That means we not only preach the gospel at our church services, in our lives each day, to our children as they grow, and through local and foreign missions to the unreached, but we have a passion to teach and disciple every man, woman, and child to become pursuers of Christ and live out a Spirit-filled life.

We do this through a continuous call to holiness in life. That begins with salvation but continues as each believer is urged to "present their bodies a living and holy sacrifice to God, which is their spiritual service of worship" (Rom. 12:1).  It, of course, continues through our lives as we allow the Word of God to transform our minds and reject the conventional thinking of the world (Rom. 12:2). As our mind is transformed, by giving over our lives to the indwelling Spirit of God, His fruit is produced in us and is displayed to the world (Gal. 5:22-23; I Pet. 1:13-16; 2:11-12; 2 Pet. 1:2-11).
